<lj:music>Ya' Know - Bubblegum Crisis 2040 OP</lj:music>

I swear, the people I work with bring a whole new meaning to "Tedious Bullshit"

Our Operations Sergeant has been gone for the last two and a half weeks for training. Yet before he left, he vaguely mentioned something about a firing range/training range that was coming up. He didn't say when, where or what we were supposed to do about it. He then sends an e-mail to us yesterday to let us know that it is next week, and that we have to supply an RSO, Range Safety Officer. He had also magically volunteered myself and my supervisor, the only mechanics in the battalion, as drivers to Quantaco Marine Base.

Sadly, it only gets "better" from here. At first we figured it was going to be the RSO and myself driving about fifteen agents down there for the range. Not that much as far as vehicles, one 15 passenger van and a Chevy Tahoe. NOW we're supposed to bring a trailer full of metal target stands, which needs to be sorted out first. We were told right off the bat that the trainers down at Quantaco will have everything we will need. So why are we bringing along this crap? The fun part of sorting through the target stands is that there are some that have to be taken out of the trailer, since we won't be using them. Guess who gets to do that? Me! More fun on top of that: We don't have a place to store the extra target stands. Are we just going to leave them out in the weather? I ain't cleaning them up when they get all rusted up.

So right now there is a running bet going on that we'll get down there and won't need them. So tempted to just say fuck it and go down there without them.

So I've been slowing down on my activity over at GPX+ lately. I wasn't on at all on Tuesday, and every other day this week I've been only clicking those that are on my Pal Pad and anyone else that clicks my party. I'll pick up on Saturday, since I have more time then. Meanwhile, here is my current party. I decided to pull Draconis out of my PC so that I can get him up to Level 100.

    <lj:music>Kidnap the Sandy Claws - Paul Reubens, Catherine O'Hara & Danny Elfman</lj:music>

Got the idea from wheretheresawil to do this. I'm going to try real hard not to put any Anime show up here. Going to be even harder since that is mostly what I watch now days.

20) Caddyshack
I'll admit, when I first saw this movie I had no real idea what was going on. It had so many references to drugs, sex, and alcohol, and I was like ... Eight? I was hooked by a lot of the humor in it though. Especially with SNL stars like Chevy Chase and Bill Murray. It wasn't until I was out and on my own when I watched it again and got a true feel for the particular humor in this film.

19) Braveheart
Despite it's many historical inaccuracies, I still found this film to be fairly entertaining. The amount and depth of the emotion this film portrays is stunning.

18) Gettysburg
Who doesn't like the occasional historical war movie? I've been a big fan of Civil War flicks ever since high school. And with the detail they went into to play out the entire battle of Gettysburg to the detail was simply amazing.

17) Cats & Dogs
I'm all for funny movies, as well as pets movies. So when this movie came out, I was indeed pleased. With actors like John Lovitz and Sean Hayes playing as the cats, they seemed to fit the parts so well. With so many fun and memorable lines like, "Stand still, I need to crush you. ", this film is just great.

16) Cannonball Run 2
There isn't really any words to describe how funny I think this movie is. I do get a kick out of all the stars that were cast. Lets face it though, it is a Burt Reynolds Movie. It's meant to make you laugh. If for no other reason than for Dom DeLuise's character changing into Captain Chaos.

15) Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I have a bit of a weak spot for the Monty Python group. There are so many films I would never had seen without seeing this one first. With it's odd and unique way of telling the tale of King Aurthur and his Knights, I could not help but be enthralled. From the Knights who say Ni, to the vicious Rabbit of Caerbannog, it was simply entertaining.

14) Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Not to say that Disney was wrong in make the sequels, but if they had left it alone after this one I would not have minded one bit. This film by itself was my favorite of the three. The other two are fun and did make me laugh. But I liked how the first film ended.

13) Spaceballs
I've been a fan of Mel Brooks ever since I first saw this movie. Sadly, I was never able to see it all the way through until I purchased it on VHS back in 2001. For some reason my mother, no matter where she was at, managed to interrupt the viewing. Always at the same part, where the code for the shield was given. I'll never know why she did, but I found it to be fairly annoying back then.

12) The Mask
Let's face it, I'm a fan of Comedy. And what list of favorites and comedy would be complete without a Jim Carrey film? I do know that he does more than comedy, but this is what a admire about him the most. His humor. And it shows quite a lot in this film. Giving him so much room to ad lib in his green faced persona. It's just so amazing what one man can do with the expression on his face.

11) Wall-E
I've seen a lot of movies that can bring one to tears sadness or joy. Wall-E was the only one that could manage both in such a graceful manner. I will agree with Wil in that I could watch the first third of the movie in an endless loop and never get bored with it. It is just so amazing what goes on in the life of one little robot.

10) Ghost Rider
I love comic books! And Ghost Rider was one of my first ones to read. I was interested in the character of Johnny Blaze, and Later Danny Ketch as the both dealt with their powers differently. While the movie didn't get everything I wanted to see, it still managed to keep me at the edge of my seat. Nicholas Cage's portrayal of Blaze was great, especially putting the twist on the character he did.

9) Kung-Fu Panda
Jack Black is a great actor when it comes to how broad his range is. He can manage serious roles as well as humorous ones. His character has all of his silly qualities. Adding in other actors like Jackie Chan and Seth Rogan really helped to balance out the humor so it didn't focus on Black alone. I especially love to see the fight scene between Po and Tai Lung. If for no other reason than the moment when Po makes Tai Lung bite his own tail.

8) The Princess Bride
This is yet another movie that gives me so many memorable quotes. And having Cary Elwes playing Westley was brilliant. His natural humor is something that can keep me laughing for hours. He also is able to manage a serious face even though he wants to laugh, something he has admitted to off screen. My favorite character of the film is Fezzik, played by Andrè the Giant.

7) The Nightmare Before Christmas
Tim Burton was able to startle and amaze audiences around the world with films such as Beetlejuice and his take on Batman. But he was able to perfect his standing as the director of creepy films with this movie. With entertaining lines and musical numbers, this film has become a favorite of many. My only hope is that one day he comes back to Halloween Town to make a sequel. If for no other reason than for more music by Danny Elfman in this creepy under toned sound.

6) We Were Soldiers
I stated before that I like war movies. This is no exception, and it plays our fairly well. While to many it is Mel Gibson's character that stands out. I personally prefer Sergeant Major Basil L. Plumley, played by Sam Elliot. His gruff voice and stern lines throughout the film really show the kind of thing that would be going on. It's his job to make sure that the soldiers keep themselves in check and focused on getting home after a successful fight.

5) Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Once again a Mel Brooks film shows up on my list. Even better is that so does Cary Elwes, as he portrays Robin of Loxley. Add in Dave Chappelle in his first major film role, and Patrick Stewart as King Richard. I love the humor of this film.

4) Dogma
It was about time I mentioned a Kevin Smith film in here. This is what I honestly believe to be the best of his Jay & Silent Bob movies. Once again calling in Ben Affleck to play a part in yet another movie. Not only Affleck, but Smith also managed to get George Carlin in this movie to play, of all things, a catholic cardinal. Which I'm sure that Carlin was MORE than happy to play, seeing his personal take and humor on the catholic church. This film proves that it is alright to poke fun at anything, as long as you know how to do it.

3) Ernest Goes to Camp
Of all the movies that Jom Varney plays as Ernest, this one is my favorite. The simple slapstick humor of the cooks still keeps me rolling. How Ernest is able to keep working through everything that happens to him with his brand of enthusiasm is great. The battle for the campground at the end is funnier than any movie I have seen yet. I love this film so much I went through my parents old VHS tapes and found the recording we had of it from back in the eighties.

2) Happy Gilmore
Adam Sandler at his best. That is all I have to say on that.

1) The Goonies
This one is at the top of my list for a few reasons. The most important reason is that it was filmed in my home town. I wasn't living there at the time, but all of my dad's family lived there, since it is his home town as well. After watching it only once, I felt a strange connection to that place in the movie. I could never really put my finger on it until several years later when we moved there.

I noticed that I had a couple of repeat actors and directors here. Sam Elloit was in three of my favorites. Cary Elwes and Mel Brooks showed up twice.

What are your thoughts on my picks? Do you have a favorite twenty movies? What are they?

    <lj:music>Mask - Bakuretsu Hunters</lj:music>

I really didn't plan on taking this long to do my next update. I got distracted and thus didn't get it done until now. So without further ado:

This week I'll be reviewing a show called Sorcerer Hunters aka Bakuretsu Hunters. The show starts off with the OP right off the bat. In this case it's a jazzy sounding song you'd would expect from a mid-nineties cartridge game, but with lyrics. The music is rather catchy though. The title of the OP is What's Up Guys?

Once the OP is done, it brings you to the first scene. A black and yellow pulsating mass can be seen as you hear a woman begging to be let go. The woman is in a cage being slowly lowered into the pulsating mass as a young girl looks on in horror. It turns out the two are sisters. Later the girl is walking alone in the rain at night as she passes by a man hiding his face in a closed umbrella, who then tries to pick up on her. After a mistake in age on both parts were are introduced to the main protagonist. After proclaiming "I'm not a dirty old man! I'm a dirty YOUNG MAN!" he hands her the umbrella and walks off. The next day we learn that his name is Carrot Glace, and that he travels with four others.

His younger brother Marron, a large muscled man called Gateau, and a pair of sisters, Tira and Chocolate Misu. These five are the title characters. For the most part the Hunters are ordered around by a very large magical being called Big Momma. Acting as her messenger is Dotta or Daughter, who is constantly hit on by Carrot. In fact, Carrot hits on just about every girl in the series except for Tira and Chocolate. Mostly because he sees those two as sister, much to their dismay as they chase after him as well.

Back with the story, it seems that an evil sorcerer is kidnapping young women to feed to a creature called Gamaru. The Hunters are sent out to find, and stop him. Carrot runs off just at the sound of a pretty woman that was supposed to help them out. While the others sigh at his actions, the girl from before shows up again as their guide while in town. She explains that her sister is also missing. Later she talks with Tira about how they both feel the same hatred for their sisters for trying to steal their men. Tira tries to say something but is stopped as the Sorcerer kidnaps her, alerting the remaining three hunters. It turns out that the girl had been helping out the sorcerer in order to gain his affection.

Back with Carrot, he had managed to find the sorcerer's lair and find the caged woman. The scene shifts as he is climbing frantically to get to her. The other hunters arrive while the sorcerer gloats about his plan. He then reveals that he has Tira as well, which pisses off Chocolate as she changes outfits into something out of an S&M store with a Garrote as a weapon. She saves Tira at just the last minute as the sorcerer hides in his magic mirrors. He monologues for a bit as the Hunters trump him and break his mirrors. He uses a magic blast to send the cage into the the pit containing Gamaru as Carrot reveals that he secretly took her place as he climbs the chain using his TOES? Carrot talks to the girl about treasuring her sister and about a possible date at a later time.

The sorcerer, desperate now, begs the girl for the hand mirror he gave her. Tira shows that she has it and promptly throws it in the pit, with the sorcerer chasing after it like an idiot. The Hunters sigh about the anti-climatic end. Enter the narrator as he describes the situation of the world as it is and explains that the Sorcerer Hunters are there to protect the average citizen from the evil Sorcerers.

Now the comes the end credits which highlights on the sisters, Tira and Chocolate. The name of the ED track is <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC8JY1JQ8II&feature=related>Mask</a> and it has a similar jazzy feel to it that the OP had.

This is a fun series over all, but it does get to be predictable at times. There are several silly moments aside from Carrot getting beaten. Like in Episode 2, it shows Tira at the end appearing in much the same fashion that the Sorceress had. The first episode also doesn't shed any light on both Carrot's or Tira's powers. Tira is much like her sister and changes clothes as well as personality, but she wears something a kin to a swimsuit and uses a whip. Carrot on the other hand changes into a beast whenever he gets hit with magic of any kind. When this happens he gets beaten into submission by the sisters once the episodic villain is defeated. It is also because of this that Carrot is scared of the sisters.

Well, that's it for Episode 1 of Sorcerer Hunters. I'll try to get the next review out about this time next week. Don't really know what show I'll do then, but you can bet I'll have one.

    <lj:music>As Good As I Once Was - Toby Keith</lj:music>

Been rather busy at work lately. Adding onto that, I finally got the rest of my stuff out of storage on Thursday. Still don't have any room to unpack it all, but I can at least wait on the unpacking until June. I did spend a majority of the weekend digging through boxes and footlockers trying to find the rest of my Gameboy and DS games. Still can't find my copies of Pokèmon Gold, Silver or Crystal. It's kind of bothering me.

I've got so much that I have to do with that stuff. I need to find my old passport so I can get a new one made. If I can't find that one, I need to find my birth certificate and high school diploma. The funny thing is that I haven't a flippin' clue where any of those things are. D=

I just want to make sure that I have everything ready for the wedding in June. I'd really like to take Stephanie over to Germany for our honeymoon. My mind has been a jumble of nonsense over this last month. I'm bringing Steph here to Virginia for Christmas, I plan on giving her the engagement ring then. I also have to try and resist two things while she's here. The first is to not just run off to a Justice of the Peace and skip the wedding altogether. It is very tempting though. The other thing, we want to try and not fool around until June. Making things a little more special for us. That one is going to be really hard for us.

Other than that I've been trying to distract myself with Pokèmon Platinum. It's been a while since I really played a Pokèmon game. So it's been hard to focus. I've also been on a href="http://gpxplus.net/codes">Global PokèDex Plus</a> clicking on eggs for my friends and hatching my own Pokèmon. Right now I'm trying to find a Female Eevee, and it isn't easy. I've got a 12.5% chance of finding one.
